But that's not the only reason Malaysians are excited about the sighting. The actor was spotted on a street in Penang riding in a Perodua Kelisa.
In videos shared across social media, the 55-year-old American actor was seen wearing a dark green long-sleeved shirt and jeans as he stepped out of a silver Perodua Kelisa.
Filming to take place at six locations across Penang
Based on a report, Wahlberg is understood to be in Penang to film scenes for an upcoming Netflix movie titled The Big Fix.

The film reportedly follows an Interpol officer working with FIFA to uncover a global match-fixing syndicate, leading to a high-stakes investigation.
Although the film is primarily being shot in Sydney, Australia, several scenes are also being filmed in locations around the world, including Malaysia, to support the storyline.
Several locations in Penang have been confirmed as filming sites, including Lebuh Melayu, Lorong Kulit, Batu Kawan Stadium and Macallum Field. Temporary road closures have also been implemented at several locations.
The shoot is expected to last around two weeks.
Aside from Wahlberg, the film's cast also includes British actor Riz Ahmed, Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer, US-based Malaysian actress Nuha Jes Izman, and Singaporean actor Chin Han.
