What were you up to when you were 12-years-old?

For local YouTube singing sensation Aryanna Alyssa Dezek, she has been busy laying the foundations for her singing career.

In fact, the 12-year-old is now one of the top ten most subscribed YouTubers in Malaysia.

Rising star

According to a report by Malay Mail, Alyssa started playing music when she was just four, and her music videos have captured the attention of Malaysians.

Her new song which went viral during the Movement Control Order (MCO), "Lagu Untuk Kamu", catapulted her into stardom, having been viewed more than 30 million times.

Naturally, her YouTube follower count grew too.

“I was thrilled to get into the Top 10. Since the MCO started, my followers have been growing very fast. One of my songs even started to go viral,” Alyssa was quoted as saying.

With more than 2.5 million subscribers, Alyssa managed to break into the top ten most subscribed YouTubers chart, even beating controversial local rapper Namewee and the shirtless-durian-seller slash fitness trainer Jordan Yeoh.

That's not too shabby for a 12-year-old, right?

Alyssa told the online portal that she was inspired by none other than Malaysia's number one singer Dato' Siti Nurhaliza.

“I particularly idolise Siti Nurhaliza. I hope to be like her because she’s the number one singer in the country and yet she remains so humble," she was quoted as saying.

Another one of her idols is a strong, talented, independent woman too.

“But I really like Taylor Swift too. She writes really good songs. Hopefully, I’ll be able to write as well as her one day,” she told Malay Mail.

The future is bright

Under the stewardship of Xeno entertainment, she currently has two singles to her name, the first titled "Ma Dan Pa", followed by "Lagu Untuk Kamu".

Her cover of Indonesian singer Upiak Isil’s "Tak Tun Tuang", released two years ago, is the most viewed video on her channel, garnering over 34 million views.

With the YouTube Gold Play Button (awarded to YouTube channels with more than one million subscribers) in the bag, Alyssa is now aiming for the Diamond Play Button.

​“The Diamond Play button from YouTube is next up. That’s when you hit 10 million subscribers.

“No one in Malaysia has gotten one yet. So, I hope I’ll be able to achieve that,” she said.
