If you’re a fan of horror films and spend a little too much time on the internet, you’ve probably stumbled across a creepy looking lady making rounds on instant messaging platforms named Momo.
The Momo Challenge went viral late last year and became an alarming trend which encouraged children to harm themselves. Momo’s striking features gave nightmares and instilled fear to countless of kids with her weirdly elongated face, big round eyes, and sinister smile.
Thankfully, the whole challenge was a hoax and Momo was actually a sculpture created by Japanese artist Keisuke Aiso.
Because his sculpture went viral for all the wrong reasons, Keisuke decided to destroy it. So, everyone moved on with their lives and thought that was the end of Momo. Or so they thought.
Meet Momo's creator, Keisuke Aiso.
‘It’ producer Taka Ichise recently revealed that he’s currently working on a new horror flick based on the Momo sculpture, according to a report by Entertainment Weekly.
Ichise has partnered with Orion Pictures and Roy Lee’s Vertigo Entertainment to develop and produce the upcoming film. Both of them have previously collaborated on the American franchises of ‘The Grudge’ and ‘The Ring’.
‘It’ has a few similarities with how Momo looks, so we can already imagine how terrifying Momo will turn out in this film.
Well, who would’ve thought a fake internet phenomenon would come to life on the silver screen soon. Will you watch it?
