Transformers fans, you should know by now that your favourite Autobot is getting its own spin-off movie titled Bumblebee.

The movie will be set in the 1980s with the possibility that Bumblebee will take the form of a yellow Volkswagen Beetle, a stark contrast from the Chevy Camaro he is today.

The extension will tell the tale of a teenage girl named Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld) who goes through a series of events and ends up meeting Bumblebee in a junkyard. Bumblebee, on the other hand, will go up against two Decepticons without the help of Optimus Prime or his other Autobot counterparts.

On Tuesday, news broke that another star will be wrestling his way to join Steinfield in Bumblebee. It’s none other than… John Cena! *cues John Cena theme song*

Wonder what kind of character will you be playing, John.
The news was first reported by US entertainment website The Hollywood Reporter and then confirmed via Cena’s Twitter account.

“One of the most exciting projects I've been fortunate to be a part of. Thrilled to join the #Transformers franchise!” the WWE wrestler tweeted.

However, there's no news on what role Cena will play so far, but who knows, he might end up being the villain.

It feels kind of weird seeing Cena starring in a Transformers spin-off, but we’re very excited to see how it plays out.

Bumblebee is slated for release on 21 December 2018.
