Originally titled ‘Kingsman: The Great Game’, the film has now been renamed to something shorter and more fitting: ‘The King’s Man’.
The trailer for ‘King’s Man’ recently dropped and if you’re hoping to see familiar faces like Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and Harry Hart (Colin Firth), unfortunately, this movie won’t feature them.
‘The King’s Man’ is actually the prequel to ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ and ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’.
Set in the early 1900s, during the World War I era, the prequel gives an insight of the origin story of the Kingsman organisation.
Ralph Fiennes will lead the film through his role as the Duke of Oxford who takes Conrad (Harris Dickinson) under his wings to train and eventually introduce him to the Kingsman secret society.
What’s even more intriguing, Eggsy’s father, Lee Unwin, who was originally a member of the “Manners maketh man” organisation will also be in the movie according to the cast list.
What caught our attention is what Fiennes said in the trailer – “Real power is not found running off to war. Real power lies in understanding who it is you're truly fighting, and how they can be defeated.”
And at the end of the trailer, as he arrives the familiar Kingsman tailor shop storefront, he tells his protégé: “I know you want to fight. But there are other ways of doing your duty.”
Could this be the start of a universe we know as the present-day Kingsman secret service?
