We may be used to the sight of roti tissue, the sweet flatbread often sold at Mamak stalls. However, it is naturally a new sight for foreigners who are typically amazed when they first see the dish.

During an episode of a South Korean variety show filmed in Kuala Lumpur, the variety stars were hilariously taken aback by its towering structure and size.

Nidonnaesan Mountain Dog Park Tour Season 2 (search in Hangul if you want to find it:니돈내산 독박투어) is a first-of-its-kind reality travel entertainment program in which the entire travel process is carried out through a 'good luck game' and paid for with the contestants' own money.

From the first episode, all expenses except airfare for overseas travel were borne by the cast through luck and chance. It stars Jang Dong Mi, Kim Jun Ho, Kim Dae Hee, and Hong In Kyu, some of whom will probably be familiar to Hallyu fans.

They were in KL to film the show last year, and during an episode, they headed to TG’s Bistro over in Bukit Bintang (the name was blurred out but we managed to find out through our investigative skills *winks*.).

Amazed with our roti

After playing a game, Kim Jun Ho asked the waiter to recommend a signature dish at the restaurant, and the latter pointed to Roti Tissue.

Jun Ho then asked for five Roti Tissues to which the waiter was surprised and remarked that it was big. However, Jun Ho insisted on having five of them because it was their signature. They also ordered two Tomyam soups, one fried rice, lassi, pineapple juice, and Coca-Cola.

They were enjoying the lassi when the arrival of the five Roti Tissue delivered by the waiters made them astonished. Although the massive Roti Tissue is usually shared, each of them had to hold onto the ginormous roti, laughing and wondering how they were going to eat it.

They also remarked that it looked way smaller on the menu. Jun Ho struggled with holding it and promptly dropped it but upon eating it, he pronounced that it was “delicious”. The rest of the cast also started digging in and enjoyed it too. They soon felt full, saying that the dish seemed like it wouldn’t finish even though they kept eating it and didn’t think that they could eat the other dishes (we’ve totally experienced this). They even started to play a game with it but in the end they had to take it to go.

When they paid the bill, they pronounced their satisfaction to the cashier, saying that it was “delicious”. They even explored Dataran Merdeka and later escaped the 34 degree sweltering heat by heading to 1Utama.

Poor things, it’s a good thing they didn’t order the Roti KLCC, though!
