90s kids rejoice! After years of fan speculation, the much-anticipated live-action Keluang Man movie is finally being made.

The news comes after the announcement that Keluang Man IP owner Iconic Animation Studio and leading film producer Astro Shaw are teaming up to reintroduce a new, possibly action packed film featuring Malaysia’s most adored local superheroes.

If you haven’t heard about the superhero, Keluang Man was a cartoon series created by late Haji Kamarudin Bin Ismail (Kamn Ismail) together with Natashah Datuk Hj Md Noor. First aired in the late 90s, Keluang Man’s legacy managed to expand across 140 episodes and 7 seasons.

Keluang Man showcases the adventures of Borhan, a mental hospital patient who turns into a crime-fighting superhero side-by-side with his trusty sidekick, Tiongman. Together, the pair uncovers mysteries and defeats evil doers with the help of Malaysian cops.

Fortunately, we were the first ones to tweet on the announcement and to no one’s surprise, Keluang Man fans celebrated the return of their favourite caped crusader by expressing their excitement on the site.

Keluang Man fans have attempted many fanmade materials over the years including short clips, 3D stills and comic strips. A few of them even made a Facebook petition for the cartoon to be made into a film!

Stay tuned for more Keluang Man news as details regarding the movie will emerge soon.
