It's a sad, sad day for fans of Linkin Park or music, in general.
The band's lead singer Chester Bennington has died at the age of 41, entertainment website TMZ reports.The LA County Coroner told the news portal that Bennington's body was found hanging at a private residence in Palos Verdes Estates on Thursday.
He was reportedly home alone at the time of the suicide, when an employee found him upstairs, according to TMZ.
Bennington is survived Talinda Ann and six children.
His Linkin Park bandmate Mike Shinoda confirmed the news via Twitter, saying that he's "shocked and heartbroken".

Bennington has reportedly struggled for years with drug and alcohol abuse, and has even talked about suicide after growing up as a victim of child abuse.
He was best friends with Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell, who also committed suicide by hanging after a concert in Detroit back in May.
Linkin Park is arguably one of today's biggest rock bands, after having sold more than 70 million albums worldwide since its inception in 1996.
The band's album 'Meteora', which topped the Billboard 200 chart in 2003, was considered one of the biggest alternative albums in music history.
