Malaysian Actress Wins 'Best Newcomer' Honours At International TV Award Ceremony
When it comes to the local entertainment industry, there are plenty of incredible Malaysian talents everywhere.
And one of them just picked up an award at an international TV ceremony.
Another big win for a Malaysian!
Local actress Koe Yeet made the country proud when she picked up the 'Best Newcomer (Actress)' award at the third edition of the Asia Contents Awards.According to TODAY, the 29-year-old won the award for her role in a 13-part English drama titled 'Titoudao: Inspired by the True Story of a Wayang Star'.
In the drama, Koe plays Ah Chiam, a Hokkien street opera performer who faced challenges to successfully become a wayang icon.
Image credit: 8DaysKoe told Singaporean entertainment website 8Days that she was caught off-guard by the nomination, but she feels honoured nonetheless.
“I was only informed by the producers on the morning the nominations were announced.
“Ten minutes later, the Malaysian press started calling me. I was, honestly, in a daze. I have no idea how to react — I just said whatever was on my mind at that time.
“I am, honestly, bless and lucky to be nominated. That for me is enough recognition for me and I am already very happy about it,” she was quoted as saying.
Image credit: TODAYTo make the moment more incredible, Koe shared the award with Korean actress Ko Min-Si, who appeared in the Netflix hit 'Sweet Home'.
The Asia Contents Awards was held in conjunction with the Busan International Film Festival, and it honours excellence in web content, TV and OTT (over-the-top).
