Can you guys imagine how awesome it would be if the next Disney princess is a Malaysian?

While it may seem a little bit far fetched at the moment (although we won't rule out this possibility just yet), we do know that the person writing Disney's next big animated movie project is a Malaysian.

Yep, that's right: a Malaysian film writer has been tasked to bring a Disney animated movie to life.

Last Sunday (25 August), Adele Lim took to the Disney D23 Expo stage to announce the movie titled 'Raya & The Last Dragon'.

Joining her on stage were producer Osnat Shurer (who also produced the hit animated movie 'Moana') and the stars of the movie, Cassandra Steele and Awkwafina.

According to Lim - who co-wrote 'Crazy Rich Asians' - she had to keep the good news under wraps for so long, "my family thought I was lying when I said I was working for a Disney feature animation!”Lim told the audience that the look and feel of 'Raya & The Last Dragon' is inspired by Southeast Asia.

Set in the fictional land of Kumandra, the story revolves around Raya (voiced by Steele), who goes on a mission to look for the last dragon on Earth named Sisu (voiced by Awkwafina) to save her world.
