Local director and screenwriter Mamat Khalid has done it again!

His latest movie, '18 Puasa Di Kampong Pisang' has managed to rake in RM2mil in just six days of it premiering on Astro First.

While the horror comedy movie is expectedly funny and light-hearted, fans can't seem to stop talking about how the message is impactful and hits you right in the head.






Raja Jastina Raja Arshad, Vice President, Head of Astro Shaw & Nusantara said that she, along with Mamat Khalid were grateful for the overwhelming response towards the film.

"We want to say thank you to the viewers that have watched it on Astro First. Congratulations too to the actors and kru who have succeeded in making '18 Puasa Di Kampong Pisang' a phenomenon on its own. It's now synonymous with the fasting month," she said.

A delightful film

'18 Puasa Di Kampong Pisang' is actually a mash up of two popular Mamat Khalid productions namely 'Kampong Pisang' along with '16 Puasa' and '17 Puasa'.

The latest movie revolves around the villagers of Kampong Pisang who do not observe religious norms during Ramadan and how the consequences of their actions.

Comedy with a message.

Fans can look forward to appearances by familiar characters from ‘Kampong Pisang Bersiri-Siri’ including Barkoba (Bell Ngasri), Pak Din (Kazar Saisi), Pak Karim (Mat London), Pak Jabit (Aziz M Osman), Cik Purnama (Dewa Sapri), Daud M (Joey Daud) Faguha Jabar (Rashid Othman), Ahmad Yasin (Ahmad Yasin) and Yah Kuchei (Afea Deana).

There are also a number of new characters including Tyson (Namron), Tyson 2 (Jaafar Onn), Kiambang (Siti Elizad Mohamad Sharifuddin), Ustaz Kazim (Datuk Ustaz Kazim), Ayahanda Rani Kulop (Rani Kulop), Manap Sengau (Yeop Hitler), the Guardian of Hell (Man Raja Lawak) and more.
