Movie Fans, You Can Soon Catch Astro Shaw Films On Astro First In Cinemas Soon
With the reopening of cinemas nationwide, Astro Shaw will debut new local films on the big screen, offering fans of local movies more high-quality films to enjoy as they return to the cinematic experience. Three of the latest local films, which premiered on Astro First during the Movement Control Order(MCO), will make their debut in theatres, giving all Malaysians an opportunity to enjoy these films.
‘Syif Malam Raya ’will debut in cinemas on 30 July, followed by ‘Ada Apa Dengan Dosa ’on 10 September, and subsequently, ‘Town Mall’, on 1 October.
All three of these films have charted successes of their own on Astro First. Supplemented by a creative
marketing structure, ‘Syif Malam Raya ’successfully garnered RM3 million in just 10 days, making it an
extraordinary achievement for Astro First. Extending on from previous collaborations, these production
teams remain confident in Astro Shaw’s abilities to manage the cinema distributions for these films.

the COVID-19 pandemic. These films varied in genres, and were enjoyed by many customers thus successfully raking in some of the highest collections on Astro First."

Meanwhile, National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) chairman Zakaria Abdul Hamid
said that they welcome and fully support Astro's efforts in reviving the film and cinema industry. "It's been
our responsibility to help local artistes and cinema operators who have been affected by the COVID-19
pandemic. So, when Astro presented to us this pro-active step, we accepted and we're honoured to work
together to revitalise the local film industry."
"The ideas and concepts introduced by Astro is something new and would benefit the industry. So, Finas plays an important role in helping Astro carry out the initiative.We hope that the initiative would not only help film producers and cinema operators, it would also motivate local film producers to produce more high quality films in this age of 'new normals'."
