The 14th Malaysian General Election that took place on 9 May 2018 was a historical affair for not only Malaysians but also the whole world.

We became international news material after Pakatan Harapan won for the first time ever, ending Barisan Nasional’s 61-year reign.

But the election result wasn’t the only thing that was memorable that day; it was the spirit of togetherness and patriotism shown by Malaysians near or far.

Who would've thought that Tun M will reprise his role as Prime Minister?
We heard that a lot of producers and production companies are interested to immortalise this very day into a cinematic experience.

Little did we know, some people are already working on a film - even when the indelible ink on our nails hasn’t completely washed out yet.

'Rise: Ini Kalilah' is a movie inspired by the events of #GE14 and will feature our local talents Remy Ishak, Jack Tan, Sangeeta Krishnasamy, and Mira Filzah.

Mira Filzah will be one of the main stars of 'Rise: Ini Kalilah'
According to The Star Online, the movie is slated to release on the most fitting day of the year: 16 September, which, if you don't know, is Malaysia Day.

Directed by Saw Teong Hin, Nik Amir Mustapha, and Prem Nath, this movie revolves around a Malaysian student studying in London who is racing against the clock to deliver his/her postal vote on time (sounds so familiar, right?).

The movie will also feature several short stories, including one about a local businessman who is in deep trouble, as their lives intertwine during the fateful and historic day.

Well it sounds very compelling, can’t wait to see it when it comes out!
