Latest in the list of bad news the year has delivered is the death of 'Mythbusters' and 'White Rabbit Project' host Grant Imahara.

Imahara is no stranger to all the nerds who grew up watching 'Mythbusters'.

The show made a large population of the world realise that science and being "nerdy" or "geeky" were actually cool.

Sadly, he has died following a a brain aneurysm, The Hollywood Reporter reported.

He also worked in movies

Imahara was an electrical engineer who was trained in robotics as well.

He joined 'Mythbusters' in Season 3, together with Kari Byron and Tony Belleci, adding diversity to the team.

He left the show in 2014 but was later roped in to host the 'White Rabbit Project' together with his former co-hosts Byron and Belleci.

Besides working on the two shows, Imahara also worked with THX division of Lucasfilm as well as Lucasfilm's Industrial Light and Magic (ILM).

He worked in all three of George Lucas's 'Star Wars' prequels, 'The Matrix', 'Van Helsing' and 'Jurassic Park', among other projects.

Mythbusters and fans shared their thoughts
