Netflix and Marvel's Twitter Accounts Hacked

A group of hackers who call themselves ‘OurMine’ successfully hacked into Netflix’s and Marvel’s official Twitter accounts by sending a series of tweets saying they were merely testing security.

This isn’t the first time OurMine broke into high-profile social media accounts. In the past year or so, they have compromised several profiles, including Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Uber CEO Travis Kalanick, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek, Channing Tatum, and more. The team is notorious for promoting their security services and mission to test the strength of passwords for influential accounts with many followers.

But unlike other hackers who are out to sabotage, OurMine won’t do much damage once they gain access to an account. All they do is post short messages advising the owner to contact them for more information on how to implement better cybersecurity practices. What a thoughtful group of hackers…

So if you have a habit of reusing passwords or authorising external party apps to your social media accounts, make sure you change them frequently and shut down unnecessary apps. We don’t want you to fall prey to these hackers!
