New Avengers, Assemble! The Full Lineup For The New Avengers Have Reportedly Been Revealed
For as long as we can remember, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been a part of our lives.
(However, we still can't accept the fact that there won't be any MCU movies this year!)
And Phase 3 of the MCU came to an end last year, with 'Avengers: Endgame' becoming the swansong for some of our favourite superheroes such as Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow and more recently, the Black Panther (RIP Chadwick Boseman).
But don't you worry; Marvel reportedly has a new Avengers team assembled, and it might surprise you.
New Avengers, assemble!
According to entertainment site We Got This Covered, the multi-billion dollar movie studio has finally settled on the roster for the new Avengers team.Interestingly, a source told the website that we can expect some of the original Avengers to be out of the picture by the time Phase 4 of the MCU rolls around.
That means that we will likely say goodbye to Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth), Hulk (played by Mark Ruffalo) and Hawkeye (played by Jeremy Renner).

Without further ado, ladies and gents, meet your new Avengers (if We Got This Covered source is correct lah):
Yup, arguably the most powerful Avenger in the MCU is back, and with Captain America and Iron Man out of the picture, she will reportedly be the new leader of the new Avengers. Brie Larson will most likely reprise her role as Captain Marvel.
Everybody's favourite web-slinging superhero will also be in the new Avengers team. Considering that Spider-Man was introduced only fairly recently (in 'Captain America: Civil War'), it's no surprise that he will be back. However, we have no idea if MCU will be replacing Tom Holland as Spider-Man, because Sony Pictures still owns the rights to the web-crawler, and they don't seem to happy about letting Spidey have so much fun in the MCU.
With Benedict Cumberbatch returning as the Sorcerer Supreme in 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' in 2022, we're not surprised that Doctor Strange will be joining the new Avengers team. After all, it's always a good idea to have a time-bending wizard on your team.
With the death of Iron Man, his sidekick will now be thrusted into the spotlight. It will be interesting to see how Rhodey handles the death of his best friend, or if he would become the new Iron Man.
And by Captain America, we don't mean Chris Evans's Captain America - because he's already said he will not be returning to the MCU ever - but Sam Wilson's Captain America. We saw, in 'Avengers: Endgame', Wilson a.k.a. Falcon picking up the shield, and it looks like he will be the new Captain America in the new Avengers. In fact, rumours are rife that he will be the co-lead of the team.
Like Captain America, the original Black Widow is out of the picture. But the new Black Widow, a spy named Yelena Belova, will be joining the new Avengers. She will be played by Florence Pugh, and we will see her in action when Disney finally decides to show 'Black Widow' in the cinemas.
Interestingly, Black Panther's younger sister Shuri will also be part of the new Avengers. With the death of Chadwick Boseman, the future of the 'Black Panther' franchise was up in the air, but the rumoured inclusion of Shuri in the new Avengers team will likely mean that the feisty warrior will indeed become the new Black Panther.
The new superhero, Shang-Chi, will be introduced in the upcoming 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings', which will be released in July 2021. The deadly martial artist and master illusionist will be played by Simu Liu, and it will be interesting to see how he fits in with the new Avengers.
Well, at least we still have a Hulk in the new Avengers team. But here's the interesting bit though: there are currently no plans for a standalone She-Hulk movie. Instead, she will be appearing in a Disney+ series, so is Disney finally focusing on a TV-movie crossover arrangement like they tried to do with 'Agents Of Shield'?
Now, this is the most surprising addition to the list. While Wolverine was a part of the Avengers in the comic books, that couldn't happen in the MCU because, well, Wolverine is part of the X-Men and its rights belong to Fox. But now that Disney owns Fox, it's about time we unleash Captain Terror on those who are foolish enough to challenge the new Avengers. The only question remains on who is going to play Wolverine, as Hugh Jackman has retired from the role.
Captain Marvel

Spider-Man

Doctor Strange

War Machine

Captain America

Black Widow

Shuri (Black Panther)

Shang-Chi

She-Hulk

Wolverine

That's not the end of the story though: on top of the characters mentioned above, We Got This Covered also reported that we will see very likely see Deadpool and Blade joining the Avengers, but that will likely not happen until further down the road.
Of course, the lineup is still not a 100 per cent until Disney or Marvel confirms it. In fact, there is no official word on whether 'Avengers 5' is happening or not, so a lot could happen between now and then.

What do you think of the new Avengers team? Do you like it? Do you prefer the old Avengers? Debate in the comment section below.
