No-llywood: Highly-Anticipated Tamil Movie ‘Kadaram Kondan’ Banned In Malaysia
Fans of Tamil star ‘Chiyaan’ Vikram would be heartbroken to know that his much-anticipated action thriller, ‘Kadaram Kondan’, has been banned in Malaysia.
The announcement was made by Lotus Five Star, the movie’s official distributor, on its Facebook page on Monday.
The caption of the post read: “We regret to inform that Kadaram Kondan movie will not be released in Malaysia as per the order of the Film Censorship Board (LPF) of Malaysia. We apologise for the inconvenience. Thank you for your support and stay tuned for further updates.”
While rumours are rife that LPF has banned the movie because of its title, which roughly translates to ‘Conqueror of Kadaram’, the board has denied it.
According to a report in Malaysiakini, the problem was with the storyline and not the title.
LPF chairman Mohd Zamberi Abdul Aziz told the news portal that the board has decided to ban the film because the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) was portrayed in a bad light in the movie.
"If we cut out lots of scenes and give approval, people won’t understand," he said.

According to the movie distributor, about 90 per cent of the movie was shot in Malaysia, so it's a shame that we won't get to see this sort-of made-in-Malaysia movie.
Oh well, we could always wait for it to be shown on Astro First.
