Oh No! Disney Stops Production On ‘Lizzie McGuire’ Reboot Just After TWO Episodes
‘Lizzie McGuire’ fans, prepare for a major heartbreak.
After over a decade of waiting for a continuation or a reboot of the popular Disney series of the 2000s, fans were over the moon when Disney announced that a reboot is indeed happening and will be coming to Disney+ in 2020, featuring Hilary Duff and other OG cast members.
But now, it seems like that dream of watching our favourite girl and her animated self on the TV screen again has been put on hold.
Production issues
According to Variety, ‘Lizzie McGuire’ creator Terri Minsky has left the reboot as showrunner.
“Fans have a sentimental attachment to ‘Lizzie McGuire’ and high expectations for a new series,” said a Disney spokesperson.
“After filming two episodes, we concluded that we need to move in a different creative direction and are putting a new lens on the show.”
So, what this means is that Disney has halted production on the reboot until they find a new showrunner, and there’s a strong possibility that they’ll reshoot the first two episodes as well.
The news definitely did not sit well with fans:

Production for the reboot, said to be centered around Lizzie who’s now 30 years old and living in New York, began in November 2019.
Besides Duff, other original cast members such as Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine and Jake Thomas, and Adam Lamberg have been confirmed to return.
So guys, we guess it will be a while before we get to see Lizzie and the gang back on our TV screen again… sigh.
