This year's Hari Raya flick, '18 Puasa Di Kampong Pisang', should do the trick, as it is turning out to be a hit.

According to Astro Shaw, the comedy film managed to rake in RM1 million in just three days of showing!

The movie was released on Astro First (CH 480) on 15 April.

The director of the movie, Mamat Khalid, said he was pleased with the achievement.

"I hope that this film did not just entertain, but it gave us some valuable lessons as well as remind us that there are consequences to our actions," Khalid said.

Raja Jastina Raja Arshad, Head of Astro Shaw and Nusantara, said in a statement that the success of '18 Puasa Di Kampong Pisang' is prove that the movie is relatable to many people.

"When Barkobar became a meme on social media, it proves that he is a strong character that everyone can relate to.

"On top of that, we've seen plenty of positive response from viewers and independent film reviewers on social media. We hope that the positive respone would continue to resonate with all the audiences out there."

‘18 Puasa Di Kampong Pisang’ offers comedic, light-hearted, yet meaningful family-friendly entertainment by continuing the stories and weaving together elements from popular local film and television franchise ‘Kampong Pisang’, along with comedy telefilms ‘16 Puasa’ (2019) dan ‘17 Puasa’
(2019).

So yes, this is a crossover between your two favourite franchises!

Fans can look forward to appearances by characters from ‘Kampong Pisang Bersiri-Siri’ including Barkoba (Bell Ngasri), Pak Din (Kazar Saisi), Pak Karim (Mat London), Pak Jabit (Aziz M Osman), Cik Purnama (Dewa Sapri), Daud M (Joey Daud) Faguha Jabar (Rashid Othman), Ahmad Yasin (Ahmad Yasin) and Yah Kuchei (Afea Deana).

Fans can also enjoy appearances by special characters such as Tyson (Namron), Tyson (Jaafar Onn), Kiambang (Siti Elizad Mohamad Sharifuddin), Ustaz Kazim (Datuk Ustaz Kazim), Ayahanda Rani Kulop (Rani Kulop), Manap Sengau (Yeop Hitler), the Guardian of Hell (Man Raja Lawak) and more.


‘18 Puasa Di Kampong Pisang’ revolves around the villagers of Kampong Pisang who do not observe religious norms during Ramadan.

“This film presents a different approach from ‘16 Puasa’ and ‘17 Puasa’. While there is definitely entertainment value in it, it remains up to fans how they digest and accept the film. The storyline and scenes are very relatable as they commonly occur around us, or sometimes, even to us.”

“As humans, we may sometimes fall short on our duties as Muslims, so I hope this production helps fans reflect on themselves and their actions, especiallly during the month of Ramadan,” says Mamat Khalid.
