Phua Chu Kang is Back! Gurmit Singh Talks About His Upcoming Musical Comedy Show in KL & What to Expect

Following 167 episodes over eight seasons, Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd became Singapore's most 'global' sitcom during its broadcast and even obtained a huge following in Malaysia.

Although it’s been a while since Singh donned the bright yellow rubber boots, PCK is set to take to the stage for a live performance after Singh recently announced that he is back with a brand-new, side-splitting performance that blends his classic humour with fresh, uproarious material.

Phua Chu Kang: The Greatest Showman, will be held on the 23rd and 24th of October at HGH Convention Centre Sentul, will feature a thrilling mix of stand-up, sketches, and interactive comedy. Singh will perform alongside comedian and artist Russell Curtis and stand-up comedian Rizal Van Geyzel, making this a must-see event for comedy lovers of all ages.

We spoke to Gurmit, Russell, and Rizal to find out what audiences can expect during the two nights.

What to expect

Hilarious Skits & Stand-Up Comedy: Enjoy a variety of comedic sketches that will leave you rolling in the aisles. Singh shared that the audience can expect a lot of jokes about Singapore and Malaysia, poking fun at both sides.

“At the end of the day, we’re like brother and sister. In a family, you can fight until you cry, but it's still family. So we can expect that kind of thing on stage,” shared Singh.

When the trio were asked whether they would be holding back regarding the type of humour and jokes they would be cracking on the night and cancel culture, Singh shared, “I think a lot of people are very sensitive about jokes nowadays. It's too sensitive.”

Meanwhile, Van Geyzel said, “My bread and butter is live performance. So you can cancel me, but at the end of the day, it's the sold-out shows that count.”
