The Pirate Ship Is Sinking: Johnny Depp Will No Longer Play Jack Sparrow
Fans of the popular movie franchise 'Pirates of the Caribbean', we have some news that might not sail well with you.
Everyone knows that the heart of the movie lies in one character, Captain Jack Sparrow, who is played by critically-acclaimed heart throb, Johnny Depp.
After 'Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' ended with Jack Sparrow sailing into the abyss, many fans were left wondering what will happen next.
What? No Depp? NOOOO! Well, Disney is currently considering rebooting the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise and it seems that this new ship will sail without Johnny Depp.
The film franchise’s scriptwriter, Stuart Beattie, recently hinted about Depp’s departure from the billion-dollar movie series.
In an interview with DailyMail TV, Beattie said that Depp has had “a great run” and “he’s made that character his own and it’s become the character he’s most famous for now.”
Who else do you think can live up to Johnny Depp's portrayal of Jack Sparrow? “I think Jack Sparrow will be his legacy. It’s the only character he’s played five times, it’s the character he dresses up in to visit children in hospitals, it’s what he’ll be remembered for.”
Depp has played the iconic character for the past 15 years. Do you think 'Pirates of The Caribbean' will ever be the same without him?
Our gut tells us that Disney will be looking for a fresh, young face to helm the reboot in order to appeal to the younger, millennial audience.
But let’s be real, the movie franchise would’ve probably tanked if it wasn’t for Johnny Depp, who fronted it back when it all started in 2003.
