However, earlier this year, reports surfaced that Evans may return as the titular character in a new Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) project.
Of course, the man himself acted coy and said this was “news to him” at the time. But now, we may have a definite answer.
Chris Evans’ Endgame
According to Entertainment Weekly, in an interview with Marvel President Kevin Feige to promote the upcoming ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’, Feige finally addressed the rumours.
"I rarely answer no to anything anymore because things are always surprising me with what happens, but that rumor, I think, was dispelled rather quickly by the man himself," Feige tells EW.
Back in 2018, the 39-year-old actor suggested that he was done playing Captain America after the filming of 'Avengers: Endgame' wrapped.
In a tweet, Evans wrote that it's been an honour to play the role for eight years, and he thanked everyone for the memories.
Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day to say the least. Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.

We last saw Captain America passing his mantle over to the Falcon in ‘Endgame’ and now, fans will be able to see if Anthony Mackie can live up to everyone’s expectations in the new series slated to premiere on Disney+ on 19 March.
(19 March 2022 for Malaysians, if we're lucky)
So, since the big boss himself has shut down the rumours, it must be true, right?
Well, with Marvel, anything can happen. So never say never, because you’ll never know if Evans will return someway somehow.
