Remember Raja Ilya Who Was Supposed To Star In A Marvel Movie? Here’s What Happened
Last year, local actress Raja Ilya was the talk of the town when she revealed that she was working with Marvel and will soon star in one of its superhero films.
She told Star2 that filming was set to take place in the end of 2017 and she would be flying to Hollywood to prep for her role in the movie.
No further details were disclosed and given the profile of the company she’s potentially working with, Malaysians were naturally curious on the role she was offered by Marvel and even to some extent, the authenticity of the news.
News of her involvement with the major film company also stirred some controversy, especially after she disclosed that she will be going under the knife to further enhance her appearance for the role.
Well, fast forward to 2018, we know a lot of curious Malaysians (including us) might be wondering what happened to Raja Ilya and her Marvel role. Good news for you; we finally have some answers.
Earlier in March, the Ipoh-born lass reportedly flew to Los Angeles to audition for the Marvel secret project. She told Cinema Online that she will attend several audition processes for a period of two weeks.
On Tuesday, it was revealed that Raja Ilya had apparently turned down her Marvel role despite months of rigorous training and preparations.
She told Berita Harian that she had to forgo the role after considering a few issues, including the terms and conditions set out by the film studio.
“I’ve accepted this open-heartedly despite having to let go of something so big but I don’t think it’s right for me — I can't comment further and I hope everyone understands,” Raja Ilya told the Malay daily.
“People can make whatever assumptions but this decision was made for my own good and future career.”
Although the Marvel dream may be over for her (and the rest of Malaysians) her trip to the land of the Star-Spangled banner wasn't in vain.
Raja Ilya was reportedly offered to star in a different Hollywood production, but no details were offered. Well, guess every cloud has its silver lining.
According to the report, she can’t divulge further on the new gig as she has signed a non-disclosure agreement and asked for fans to pray for the best for her career.
Raja Ilya is currently back in Malaysia for the filming of local drama series 'Syurgaku Tak Sempurna 2'.
“The production company has agreed to wait for me, and once we wrap up filming here, I will fly back to the US.”
During her two-week trip to the US, Raja Ilya reportedly managed to meet a lot of directors, actors and movie producers such as Joey MacFarland, who shared their knowledge and experiences with her.
Not only that, she also attended the Oscars after party.
