Rock The World: Malaysia’s Biggest Local Music Festival Making a Comeback?
After the life-changing pandemic, 2022 has been filled with comeback stories, especially in the Malaysian music scene. Older bands found their way back on the map through feature shows and festivals. Even international acts like My Chemical Romance released a new song this year, marking a proper return and a possible new album coming soon.
Bands aside, rumours have been swirling that yet another gargantuan entity within the music industry was set to make a comeback sooner or later.
After the success of Atas Angin Festival and the long stretch of shows between March until the end of the year, the much-celebrated Rock the World music festival is slated for a return sometime this year or the next.
Rock the World was once a household name in the music scene. Mostly organised at Bukit Jalil’s carpark area, RTW opened their stages to the biggest names in the industry including One Buck Short, ACAB, Butterfingers, The Times, OAG and more.
The last Rock the World was held at Bukit Jalil’s Carpark B in 2017 featuring a stellar lineup that included the likes of Iqbal M, Gerhana Skacinta, Emmet I, Massacre Conspiracy and others.
Today, former Rock the World organiser and head honcho Jason Lo announced that Rock the World will be returning this year as his team is hard at work in organizing the festival.
We will be busy bringing the return of @RockTheWorldMY this year and will make an announcement shortly #rockers
