They've Found Someone To Play Duke Nukem And His Name Is...JOHN CENA!!!
Aliens, beware! You're in for a scare!
Rumours of a 'Duke Nukem' movie have been circulating the interwebs for a while now, and it looks like it's one step closer to becoming a reality after the film's producers revealed that they have found their leading man.And his name is...
Yup, that's right: it's been confirmed that WWE wrestler John Cena will be playing one of the most iconic video characters of all time.
The film's producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form confirmed in an interview with movie website CinemaBlend that the 40-year-old Cena is their main man for the movie.
However, they revealed that they "don't have a script yet" and Cena could still drop out (we hope not).
"If he reads the script and he doesn't like the script I'm sure there's ways that he could pull out, but right now he's our guy," Form was quoted as saying.
Not much is known about the project so far, but the movie adaptation will reportedly be developed by Platinum Dunes, a production company owned by - wait for it! - 'Transformers' director Michael Bay.
Oh cool, guess we can expect lots and lots of explosion then.
Form also revealed that they want the 'Duke Nukem' film to have the same tone and direction as 'Deadpool'.
One of the most popular video game series in the history of video games, 'Duke Nukem' became an instant hit the moment the first game was released in 1991.
The series follow testosterone-filled Duke Nukem's fight against an alien invasion on Earth.
'Duke Nukem 3D' - the third game in the series - was released in 1996 to critical acclaim and is considered to be responsible for popularising first-person shooters.
