Top 5 Most Annoying And Overplayed Songs Of 2017

Since we’re doing a series of recap for 2017, we’ve decided to include some of the biggest hits this year that might come off annoying, or have been so overplayed on the airwaves this year, you can't stand another second of it.

You might not necessarily hate these artists or the songs itself, but since it’s been getting so much airtime, you’re starting to feel irritated even from just reading the title of the song itself.

So, we’ve compiled the top five most annoying or overplayed songs that you either can’t get out of your head or sing along to in 2017.

#1 "Despacito" - Luis Fonsi

The world was introduced to not only the biggest non-English hit this year but also to Luis Fonsi. Before Despacito burst into the mainstream charts and became a worldwide cultural phenomenon thanks to Justin Bieber, the song was already doing well in the Latin music scene.

Sure, it has a catchy beat and is very danceable but once you’ve got every mall, radio station and TV channel playing a song that Malaysians don't even understand on repeat 1,000x a day, we won't blame you if you feel like throwing up.

Also, the song helped put Malaysia on the map once again after our government decided to ban it on all government-owned TV and radio stations. Malaysia boleh!

#2 "Baby Shark" - Pinkfong

Now, who would’ve thought that a children’s education song from Korea will be such a guilty pleasure for adults? The repetitive lyrics are so easy to remember that it refuse to leave your head once your colleague or friend starts singing or humming the beat.

Did we mention that the creator of the song, Pinkfong, also recently came to Malaysia for a Baby Shark tour? Make it stop, please!

#3 "Closer" - The Chainsmokers

Although this song was released last year, it still manged to make its way to Billboard's 'Top 10 Songs of 2017' chart, which is a clear indication of how overplayed this song was this year.

Whatever it is, we still prefer MGAG's Malay version of this song. Win liao! But seriously guys, time to move on from this song.

#4 "Shape of You" - Ed Sheeran

We love Ed Sheeran, and we know a lot of people love this song too, which is why "Shape of You" became the number one song of the year, edging out - yup, you guessed it! - "Despacito".

But we think you’ll agree with us when we say that this song is really overplayed and it seems like everyone wants to cover this song.

#5 "Man’s Not Hot/Fire in the Booth" - Big Shaq

The ting goes skrrrahh, pap, pap, ka-ka-ka, skibiki-pap-pap, and a pu-pu-pudrrrr-boom! We honestly love this song because of the hilarious lyrics and funny memes/parodies. But yeah, it does get super annoying after a while.

Some people might feel mortified after finding out that this is a legit, real song being played on a radio, and it's not a parody. "Man’s Not Hot" may sound dumb, but hey, Big Shaq’s laughing all the way to the bank now.
