Remember when we reported that Malaysia’s very own animation production 'Upin & Ipin: Keris Siamang Tunggal' was included in the longlist of nominees for the Best Animated Film category at the 2020 Oscars?

Well, even before the prestigious event takes place, the film has already won an international award.

The animated film, made by Les’ Copaque Production, was awarded the Golden Wing Award in the 'Best Animation Of The Year' category at the Animation Game Industry Annual Conference & Anime Beijing Awards 2019.

Well done, boys!
The Star Online reported that the win was announced by National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) via a press release.

The film opened in China after the signing of MoU between Les’ Copaque Production and Beijing Animation and Gaming Industry Association (BAGIA).

The film was also recognised at the 2019 Animaze - Montreal International Animation Film Festival in August.

That won't be the end of Upin & Ipin's globe-trotting adventures though: on 5 December, it will be featured at the Asian Academy Creative Awards 2019 in Singapore.

Looks like it has a pretty good chance at winning the Oscars too, don’t you think?
