Earlier this year, rumours of a possible ‘Gossip Girl’ reboot took over the internet.

Months passed by and fans waited eagerly if Serena van der Woodsen and the gang will ever make a comeback.

Well fans, it’s probably worth the wait because Variety has confirmed that a ‘Gossip Girl’ spin-off is currently in the works.

The new show will air on HBO Max, a new streaming service that’ll rival Netflix and Disney+ which is slated to launch in 2020.

Will these familiar faces return to the small screen soon?
The streaming platform has ordered 10 one-hour episodes of the new series.

It was also reported that original executive producers for the show will return to work on the new ‘Gossip Girl’.

However, if you’re dreaming of seeing Blake Lively and Leighton Meester together on screen again, the chances are quite slim because ‘Gossip Girl 2.0’ will be set eight years after the original show’s finale and will focus on a new generation of New York private school teens.

The most stylish duo in Manhattan back then.
The show will also address how much social media and the landscape of New York itself has changed in the intervening years.

But, since nothing has been confirmed, who knows both Lively and Meester who have previously expressed interest in working on the continuation of the series may just return for this spin-off. Perhaps as an older, maternal role?

Guess it’s time to stock up or find your stash of hairbands for the new series.

Hope fans loved this update and are looking forward to its premiere. XOXO, Gossip Girl.
