Based on a French graphic novel titled ‘Valerian and Laureline’ that has been running for more than 40 years, the plot follows government agents Valerian and Laureline’s journey through space and time to maintain order among human territories in the universe. Travelling through the city of Alpha that is populated by thousands of different species, the two are on a mission to see if the city would pose a threat to Earth.

Besides Cara Delevinge and Dane DeHaan playing the leading roles, the movie will also see the return of Rihanna to the big screen, who will be playing a supporting role as some sort of shapeshifter. Besson actually said that Rihanna was the first person in his wishlist.
