If you grew up watching 'Doraemon', you can probably relate to and symphatise with Nobita, the lovable but super lazy best friend of Doraemon.

Sadly, we've lost the voice of Nobita recently.

Lost a legend

Yoshiko Ota, who was the first voice actress of Nobita, has passed away recently. She was 89.

According to a report by NHK, Ota suffered from a heart failure and took her last breath at a hospital in Japan's Kanagawa prefecture on 29 October.

However, her death was only announced on 8 November by The Theatre Echo Company, where she was attached as a voice talent.

Ota first voiced Nobita in the early episodes of 'Doraemon' in 1973, which ran for 26 episodes.

She later voiced Sewashi Nobi, the great-great-grandson of Nobita and Sizuka, in the 1979 anime.

Besides 'Doraemon', she had also her voice to other iconic anime characters such as Leo in the 1966 movie 'Jungle Emperor Leo', Atsuko Kagami in the 1969's 'Himitsu No Akko-chan', and Baby Panda in 'Panda! Go, Panda!'.

Rest in peace, ma'am! Thank you for making our childhood great.
