You Can Now Catch The Award-Winning Short Animation Film ‘Batik Girl’ On YouTube
If you're fan of the batik, you'll be pleased to know that the traditional, artistic and world-renowned textile has been featured in a short animation film.
Not just that: you can catch the animated film for free!
According to a report by Malay Mail, local film studio R&D Studio recently launched its 2D animated short film 'Batik Girl' on its official YouTube channel.
The 9-minute video is the product of a collaborative effort between R&D Studio, writer Heidi Shamsuddin, Tudidut Studio and Universiti Teknologi Mara’s Faculty of Music, while the production was supported by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).

World-famous animation

'Batik Girl' is home. 'Batik Girl' tells the story of a young girl who is coping with a tragedy and finds herself drawn into the magical world of batik painting.
'Batik Girl' is so popular, in fact, it was shown at 26 film festivals around the world!
It also won the Best Short Animated Film award at the Festival de Largos y Cortos de Santiago in Chile; the Honourable Mention in Audience Favourites award at the Florida Animation Festival; and the Gold Medal in the Regional category at the 20th Digicon6 Asia, Japan.
Such beautiful art. R&D Studio released a trailer for the short film earlier this year, and it instantly struck a chord with Malaysians.
“We wanted to tell a story based locally, in Malaysia, and around batik, specifically.
“However, the emotional core of this story is a relationship… between a grandmother and a granddaughter,” R&D Studio senior partner and director of 'Batik Girl' Irwan Junaidy was quoted as saying.
Sounds like a pretty awesome short film, we have to say.
