Over the years, we've seen plenty of high quality local animated movies, and in fact, a couple of them broke cinema records too.

And here's the good news: one of them is getting a sequel soon.

Expect great things from the sequel

The New Straits Times reported that the production houses Primework Studios and Wau Animation are already planning a sequel for the hit animated movie 'Ejen Ali'.

Primeworks Studios and Media Prima Television Network CEO Datuk Khairul Anwar Salleh has confirmed the news, telling the the daily that discussions on the project had already taken place.

However, don't expect the movie to be completed any time soon, as the situation is a little challenging no thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Looking at the situation now, I admit that it'll take some time for this film to be completed. Producing an animation work is very costly and timely. But we hope that by the time it wraps up, the Covid-19 pandemic would already be under control with the availability of its vaccine," he was quoted as saying.

Ready for more Ejen Ali?
Despite that, one thing he did promise though is that the sequel will be action-packed with lots of comedic scenes and plot twists.

The producers will also be giving a little more screen time to some of our favourite characters such as the titular young agent and Mamak Maju, Khairul revealed
