Coming Soon: ‘Tom And Jerry’ Live-Action Remake Starring Michael Peña, Ken Jeong, And More
Since almost everything from our childhood is getting the live-action treatment nowadays from production studios, you can expect more of these movies for many years to come.
But what we didn’t see coming was a live-action remake of our beloved Saturday morning cartoon TV show, ‘Tom and Jerry’.
Back in March, there were reports of a live-action version of ‘Tom and Jerry’ starring Michael Peña, Colin Jost, and Chloe Grace Moretz.
Recently, Entertainment Weekly (EW) has confirmed that Ken Jeong, Rob Delaney, Jordan Bolger, and Pallavi Sharda will also be on board for the live-action film.
Now, many are left wondering whether ‘Tom and Jerry’ will get an ultra-realistic purr-fect live-action treatment as seen in ‘The Lion King’ or the slightly disturbing treatment like in ‘Cats’.
But let’s just hope it won’t turn out like the cat-astrophic live-action ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’.
So, how will the live-action compare to Tom and Jerry’s mischievous antics on the big screen?
Well according to EW, the movie will narrate Tom and Jerry’s life after being kicked out of their home and eventually relocating to a fancy hotel in New York. Kayla (Chloe Moretz) is tasked to get rid of Jerry before a high-class wedding takes place in the hotel.
Sounds like a lot of fun and chaos, can’t wait to see how it’ll turn out. Let’s hope they’ll get Tom and Jerry right and to a T.
‘Tom and Jerry’ is set to meet fans in theatres on 16 April 2021.
