First 'Star Wars: Rise Of The Skywalker' Footage Has Rey Wielding Double-Bladed Red Lightsaber

'Star Wars' fans had a massive weekend.
During the Disney Expo (or better known as D23), which took place in Anaheim, California, fans of the movie franchise were treated to the trailer for 'The Mandalorian', the highly-anticipated Disney+ TV series.
Then, actor Ewan Mcgregor surprised everyone when he appeared on stage to announce that he will be reprising his role as Jedi Master Obi Wan Kenobi in a yet-to-be-named TV series.
And just when the fans thought they had time to take a breather to contain their excitement, Disney went and dropped the first footage for the highly-anticipated 'Star Wars Episode IX: Rise Of The Skywalker'.
The official trailer has yet to drop - and we don't think it will be dropping anytime soon - but fans who were in attendance were treated to a video clip which reportedly included several memorable scenes from the first eight 'Star Wars' films, before culiminating in a quick cut of scenes from 'Rise Of The Skywalker'.
According to entertainment website Gizmodo, one scene included our heroine, Rey (played by Daisy Ridley), throwing her blue lightsaber like a boomerang and calling it back to her, like how Thor does it with his Mjolnir.
There were also scenes of a bunch of Resistance starships coming out of hyperspace together, Finn (played by John Boyega) and new character Jannah (played by Naomi Ackie) looking up to see dozens of Star Destroyers filling up the sky and reportedly, a shot of C3PO - with red eyes!
There were also reportedly a scene featuring Rey and Kylo Ren (played by Adam Driver) engaging in a little lightsaber battle on a crashed ship among a rough body of water.
But the scene that drove die-hard fans into a state of madness came towards the end of the footage.
"The journey nears its end," Emperor Palpatine was heard saying in the clip, before the scene cuts to a figure wearing a black cloak and hood.
The person underneath the Sith-looking robes was Rey.
She then ignites her lightsaber, which is red in colour and is double-bladed, like the one wielded by Darth Maul in 'Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace'.

Did Rey turn to the Dark Side? Was it a disguise? Was it all just a dream?
No ones know for sure, but the final scene was enough to drive die-hard 'Star Wars' fans into a massive frenzy on social media:
