Ladies And Gents, Meet Your New Tomb Raider Lara Croft!

When we think of Lara Croft, one name comes to mind: Angelina Jolie.
And we won't blame you. After all, Jolie, her short shorts and her pair of, umm, guns appeared in two Tomb Raider movies back in the early 2000s.
Well, it's now time for Ms. Jolie to step aside as we have a new Tomb Raider in town.
Images of Swedish actress Alicia Vikander, who plays Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider movie, have emerged online.
The images show the 28-year-old with a bandage on her right arm, holding a bow and a pickaxe with a quiver slung over her shoulder - which, we have to say, is a split image of her video game counterpart:

According to an article on GQ magazine, the new real-life Lara Croft is reportedly based on the more grounded, more realistic Lara Croft in Crystal Dynamics' re-boot of the Tomb Raider video games.
The movie's director, Roar Uthaug (pretty cool name) told the lifestyle magazine that the film will borrow some elements from the video games.
"That game was certainly part of what inspired our film. I think fans will be delighted to discover many touchstones from the game throughout the story," he was quoted as saying.

Crystal Dynamics' re-boot of the Tomb Raider video games have received critical acclaim from both critics and fans alike. The series, with British actress Camilla Luddington providing the voice for digital Lara Croft, have sold more than 10 million copies so far.
Hopefully, the film re-boot would be as good as its video games counterpart because it's about damn time we get a good Tomb Raider movie, right?
Tomb Raider is scheduled to open on 16 March 2018 (unless, of course, there's a gay scene in the movie which will definitely push back the release date in Malaysia).
