Over the past couple of years, we have seen plenty of Malaysians artistes making the country proud on the world stage.

We can now add local singer Alena Murang to the list.

Showcasing local culture

That's because her music video for her single "Warrior Spirit" recently picked up two awards at the International Music Video Awards in Britain.

According to The Star, the music video picked up the 'Best Asia' and 'Pacific Music Video' awards, as well as an honourable mention in the 'Best Costume' category.

The music video was reportedly directed by Alena's cousin, Sarah Lois Dorai.

The 32-year-old, who is of Dayak Kelabit and European ancestry, told The Star in a seperate interview that she and her team were inspired by the culture of the people of Borneo when they were conceptualising the music video.

"Warrior Spirit" is one of the lead singles from Alena's new album titled 'Sky Songs', made with the support of the Dayak Cultural Foundation and the Communications And Multimedia Ministry (MCMC).

The music video was released on 27 May, and it won two awards barely two months later.

Not too shabby, right?
