Malaysian Actress Maya Karin Is Set To Star In Her First Ever Hollywood Film
Maya Karin needs no further introduction to Malaysians. Not only she’s the queen of the silver screens and a badass ‘pontianak’, she’s also an awesome environmental-conscious human being.
For any aspiring star, breaking into Hollywood would take years of hard work and dedication. But for Maya, that day has come for her as she is set to star in her first ever Hollywood film!
The ‘Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam’ actress will star alongside Tyler Posey from ‘Teen Wolf’ in an upcoming movie titled ‘Alone’.
The 39-year-old is currently in Los Angeles to film her scene, in which she plays a scientist.
Actor Donald Sutherland, who starred in ‘The Hunger Games’ (and father to Kiefer Sutherland) will also appear in the movie.
In an interview with the Malay Mail, Maya said the golden offer came to her at the very last minute.
“It happened really quick! I just got my ticket the day before I left for Los Angeles and the script the day after,” she told the daily.
“It’s just one scene, but it’s supposed to be a crucial scene.”
The film tells the tale of Aiden (Posey) who barricades himself inside his apartment and starts rationing food to survive when an unexplainable epidemic infests his city. Those who are infected are known as ‘Screamers’.

The award-winning actress regularly shares her journey in Los Angeles via her Instagram account.
She claims that she has “four pages of science dialogues” to work on just for one scene. Above all, she’s very grateful for the treatment she has received so far for starring in this film.
“I was waited upon, cared for and even had a huge dressing room.”
All the best, Maya! Who knows, you’ll star in a movie alongside fellow Malaysians Henry Golding and Michelle Yeoh or even other Hollywood A-listers soon.
