Malaysian Yeo Yann-Yann Bags Best Actress Award At Taiwan’s Golden Horse Awards
The 56th Golden Horse Awards took place in Taipei, Taiwan over the weekend.
An upcoming local film, ‘The Garden of Evening Mist,’ was nominated in nine categories at the prestigious award show and eventually took home the award for the ‘Best Makeup and Costume Design’ category.
But that’s not the only award Malaysian talents bagged at the ceremony dubbed the “Chinese-language Oscars”.
Malaysian actress Yeo Yann-Yann took home the ‘Best Actress’ award for her role in the Singaporean drama ‘Wet Season’.

Yeo is currently based in Singapore.
“It’s not easy going down the path in the entertainment (industry) in Singapore and Malaysia... but I will continue walking the path,” she said during her acceptance speech.
But according to The Star, that’s not the only award won by Malaysians, as another Malaysian co-produced film titled ‘Nina Wu’ won ‘Best Sound Effects’, while longtime Taiwan-based Malaysian-born director Tsai Ming-liang won the ‘Best Documentary’ award for his piece ‘Your Face’.
Congratulations to all Malaysians and winners!
