The brand-new B-segment SUV made its debut on 15 September at a special media preview, and Malaysians have been captivated by it ever since.

In fact, Proton claimed in early October that they have received well over 20,000 bookings for the X50 in just a span of two weeks; pushing the waiting period all the way to the second quarter of 2021 for anyone looking to place an order now.

However, only the first 8,000 units will be eligible for the government’s exemption of the 10 per cent sales tax (SST) for new locally-assembled vehicles sold this year. Therefore, subject to any extension by the government, the remaining orders will be paying the full price that’s inclusive of SST.

That is a pretty remarkable number, considering the fact that Proton has yet to officially launch the X50 to the public or reveal its price tag yet.

A car for every segment

Well, after a month-long radio silence and countless rumours, the local automaker has finally revealed the information that we are pretty sure every Malaysian has been waiting for; the price.

On Tuesday (27 October), Proton officially announced the price of the highly-anticipated SUV.

They made the announcement via a virtual launch on their official Facebook page and YouTube pages.

Without further ado, the prices of the Proton X50 are:

Proton X50 Standard - RM79,200 Proton X50 Executive - RM84,800 Proton X50 Premium - RM93,200 Proton X50 Flagship - RM103,300

*OTR w/o insurance and only valid until 31 December 2020 with Sales Tax exemption (SST)

Considering that the car boasts some really impressive features for its class, the Proton X50 is pretty good value for money, if you ask us.

To jog your memory, the Proton X50 comes in four variants - Standard, Executive, Premium and Flagship; with two engine options.

As always, the base model is the X50 1.5T Standard, and then progresses to the 1.5T Executive, 1.5T Premium and tops out with the 1.5 TGDI Flagship; a new trim level that’s inaugurated with the X50.
