What's Inside The Goodie Bags That Celebs Get at Prestigious Award Ceremonies?
Award season has kicked off with the 2017 Golden Globes taking place just a couple of weeks ago. Besides the usual backstage sneak peeks and red carpet OOTDs we all love to scrutinise at these major award shows, did you know that the nominees and attendees get a customary perk? They each receive a goodie bag! And we’re not talking about the usual snacks and candies you get at your best friend’s birthday party. We’re talking luxurious party favours that include vacations, jewellery, gift certificates and every other expensive goodie you can think of!
Without further ado, let’s deep dive into these lavish award show gift bags we can only dream of receiving (unless you’re one of the nominees at these major award shows who just happened to land on Rojak Daily and be reading this, then good for you!)

Grammy Awards

The Grammy Awards is probably the world’s most prestigious music award ceremony that honours the best of the industry. Every year, only a few walk away with the highly-esteemed golden gramophone statue. But what about the other 100-something presenters and artists who worked just as hard to perform at the ceremony but failed to receive an award at the end of the night? Well, the consolation for that was pretty sweet at the 2016 Grammys because they each got a ‘swag bag’ of gifts worth more than US$22,000 (RM97,600)!
The Grammys' swag bag is assembled by a marketing company known as Distinctive Asset and they’ve been in the game for the last 17 years. They would assemble the event’s gifts and organise a gift lounge for all Grammy nominees and attendees each year. The gift lounge is turned into an interactive space in which the celebrities get to pick and choose whatever they want. The range of gifts included:
Fit Club TV “Ultimate Fitness Package”
Image: Business Insider
This was the most expensive goodie on the list. Priced at US$6,180 (RM27,400), it consisted of a deluxe seven-night experience at a Hilton Head Island fitness resort called Live in Fitness. The VIP package came with a nutritionist and chef who will plan your menu, life coach sessions, a customised fitness plan, fitness apparel, and health supplements.
1-Hour Ultherapy Session
Image: Skin Perfect Brothers
The celebs were treated to a gift certificate for a special facial session, which uses a non-invasive ultrasound skin tightening technique worth US$5,500 (RM24,400). This treatment is provided by New York’s most atas plastic surgeons, Stafford Broumand and Daniel Maman.
Natural Mixologist Gift Certificate

This US$2,250 (RM9,990) voucher was for organic, gluten-free and vegan cocktail service by The Natural Mixologist, based in Los Angeles.

24K Gold Facial
Image: Business Insider
Yup. This came before Bruno Mars and his 24K magic. Forget about the rest of the goodie bag. Who needs this 24K gold facial?! This facial session by Age Interventionist by Renee Lynn would cost you about US$460 (RM2,000) if you’re looking to go a little high-end with your pampering session.

BAFTA Awards

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts, a.k.a. BAFTA, is an independent charity that supports, develops and promotes all forms of moving arts, including film, television and game in the UK. The BAFTA also holds an annual award ceremony in the same period. As an independent body, it is no surprise that the BAFTA gift bag costs a slightly more modest amount to put together. Some said that a look into the BAFTA goodie bag is like taking a quintessential trip around the UK.

Despite the modest gifts, perhaps the best gift in the goodie bag is the bag itself: a £1,045 (RM5,800) leather and brass Globe-Trotter trolley case in which the gifts are packed. Here is the complete £1,500 (RM8,325) gift bag from the 2016 BAFTAs:
  • A bottle of Brut Réserve NV Taittinger champagne
  • Lancôme’s Hypnôse mascara and La Vie Est Belle fragrance

  • Bath and body gift set from Noble Isle, made with natural British extracts

  • Discount voucher for timepieces from 88 Rue du Rhone
  • A Cross pen
  • A sleek, black notepad with embossed Grolsch branding

The Academy Awards, a.k.a. Oscars

Image: Screenplay
Of course, we had to save the best for last, and best meaning the gift bag with the most swag last year. If there was an award for luxurious goodie bags, the Oscars would top the list every single year. The Academy Awards is an American awards ceremony hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to recognise excellence in cinematic achievements in the American film industry.
Last year’s Oscars' swag bag was also assembled by Distinctive Assets and it was worth up to US$232,000 (RM1.02 million)! However, unlike the gift bags at other award ceremonies, only the nominees for the five most high-profile categories get to snag these goodies – Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Director, as well as the host of the night. Among the list of expensive and extraordinary gifts, here are some of our top picks:
Trip To Israel
Image: Heritage Tour Israel
This trip contains a 10-day tour for two, which includes first-class plane tickets, five-star hotels, all meals and transportation, and a private security escort – perfect for the A-listers. How much does it cost? A whopping US$55,000 (RM244,000). A-lister or not, who wouldn’t want that in their goodie bag?
Vampire Breast Lift Treatment
Image: Kim Kardashian / Instagram
This treatment is just as strange as it sounds. With a US$1,900 (RM8,400) price tag, it uses a woman’s own blood to improve the skin’s appearance and softness. If you’ve seen Kim Kardashian’s vampire facial treatment, it’s pretty much the same thing. The price of being a celebrity, huh?
Walking Tour Of Japan
Image: Walk Kyoto
Organised by Walk Japan, this US$54,000 (RM240,000) trip allows you to choose any of the company’s private walking tours for up to 15 days in the Land of the Rising Sun.
Lifetime Supply Of Beauty Products
Image: Tea Leaf Co
This gift comes with beauty products made out of pu-erh tea, a type of fermented and aged black tea from China, which costs US$31,200 (RM138,000). Although we’re very sure these celebs can afford their own lifetime supply, this would be a pretty sweet addition to their daily beauty regime.
10,000 Pet Meals Donation
Image: Bruny Island Accommodation
We often see fanclubs performing charity in the name of their idols and favourite personalities, but we seldom see this in a goodie bag. A company known as Halo, Purely for Pets sponsored a donation of 10,000 meals in the recipient’s name made to his or her choice of animal shelter or rescue organisation, each worth US$6,300 (RM28,000). This is probably the most generous goodie we’ve seen so far.
