Pet ownership has been increasingly popular in Malaysia over the years with more than half of Malaysians owning pets according to the  Consumer Report Malaysia 2023. Whether you’re the proud owner of a furry pet or whether you just love hanging out around our four-legged friends, here is our list of pet cafes to check out in Penang:

Catonomy

This Muslim-friendly café is a great place to have some kit-tea (pun intended). Cats and coffee sounds like a great combination and that’s what you’ll find here along with a Japanese-inspired menu including rice bowls, sides, and beverages. You can also touch the felines but do take note of the ‘catiquettes’ set by the café.

P.S.: All furkids are welcome here.

PawPals

Conveniently located near Gurney Drive, this is more of a boarding house, retail shop, and grooming parlour. It even has a four-legged jacuzzi tub where your beloved doggie or kitty can dip their paws (some of these dogs are definitely better pampered than this writer).

However, they also have a café at the entrance where you can have a drink or two while waiting for your furkid’s turn for grooming. In the meantime, you can pet all the adorable puppies running around too. A plus point is that they have ample parking space, and the area is hygienic.

Cas Cas Café

This pet-friendly café provides ample space for your fur babies to run around. They serve Western dishes such as carbonara pasta and savoury waffles plus desserts such as Affogato with Häagen-Dazs ice cream. You can even host a birthday party for your pet and invite all of your friends along with their own pets. You’ll also get a chance to see the owner’s dogs running around such as their adorable West Highland Terrier.

Address: 302-A, Jalan Tun Dr Awang, South Homes, 11900 Bayan Lepas, Pulau Pinang

Brown Poodle Café

This café was initially located behind Midlands but is now located at Vantage Desiran Tanjung. We love their chic and cute aesthetic including their poodle logo. They offer vegan cuisine that is free from animal killing, perfect for animal lovers such as Curry Rendang and Korean Kimchi Noodle Soup. Make sure to check out their delightful iced drinks in the shape of a dog! Furkids under 10kg are welcome here with a dedicated section for those who bring their pets.
