Asians are generally known to be warm and friendly, and Malaysia embodies those exact values; just take a look at our tourism headline – 'Malaysia, Truly Asia'.
This is also probably why we’ve earned the recognition as the second friendliest city in “The 50 Friendliest Cities in The World” list!
Big 7 Travel has hailed Kuala Lumpur as the second friendliest city in the world, just behind Vancouver, Canada.
“Malaysians are naturally friendly and nice to strangers, and Kuala Lumpur is the best example of this,” the online publication wrote.

“The easy-going temperament of locals and their friendliness towards visitors means that it’s easy to make friends here. KL is a top spot for both tourists and expats.”
The website interviewed more than 1.5 million people for the survey, and the participants were asked this question: Where you would find the friendliest city in the world?
Well, isn’t it flattering to know that hundreds of thousands of people around the globe seem to agree that we deserve to be in the top three friendliest cities in the world?

Our Asian friends who also made the list are Taipei (#4), Chiang Mai (#11), Siem Reap (#20), Singapore (#24), Tokyo (#28), Jaipur (#35), Guangzhou (#38), Colombo (#44), and Ho Chi Minh City (#46).
So, technically speaking, we’re the friendliest Asian city in the world!
Keep on smiling, fellow Malaysians! Always extend a friendly hand and who knows, we’ll get top ranking next year.
