Adidas Brings Back Move for the Planet, Vows to Donate to Charity for Every 10 Minutes of Exercise
For those who love exercising and participating in various sports, get your sweat on while helping a good cause by participating in adidas’ Move For The Planet initiative.
The global initiative aims to harness collective movement to create collective impact by calling on all athletes at every level worldwide to track their physical activity across various sports to raise money for projects in areas impacted by heat waves, flooding, and other extreme weather conditions.
For every ten minutes of movement logged by users on the Adidas Running App, adidas, in partnership with Common Goal and the UN Climate Change Sports for Climate Action, is pledging to donate €1 up to €1.5 million between the 10th and 22nd of May all of which will go to support projects that offer sustainability education and help to make sports facilities more resilient against extreme weather.
To participate, users must log time in over 100 sports on the app, including handball, Zumba fitness, padel, football, kayaking, powerlifting, and many more.
This isn’t the first time the initiative has been active. In 2023, over a million people participated in Move For The Planet, with Malaysians coming together and moving 633,113 minutes for the planet, which equalled a total of 63,311.30 euros donated as a nation.
How you can get involved
Besides tracking down those minutes by exercising yourself, those keen to join the movement locally can also participate in the ARKL Move For The Planet — Morning City Run event on May 18, 2024.
The morning run will offer participants the chance to run and learn how they may take further steps in their sustainability journey through mindful food consumption for a greener environment.
