Eco-adventure has gained popularity around the world in recent times.

Since many have been stuck at home for a long period of time due to the COVID-19 pandemic and long to be outdoors to enjoy nature, such activity has gain even more traction.

Selangor, being one of the biggest states in the country, has many eco-adventure spots for outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy.

You can't leave the state but you can still enjoy these activites; while following all the SOPs and staying safe, of course!

1) Forest Research Institue Malaysia (FRIM), Kepong

The view from the bridge is worth it
Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), Kepong occupies an area of ​​600 hectares, and is surrounded by the Lagong Hill Forest Reserve.

One of its latest attractions is the Sky Walk where you can observe the beauty of almost untouched forest from a height of 30 to 50 metres.

Other activities that can be carried out here picnics, jogging on the Rover Track, walking under the canopy, camping, hiking, cycling and studying the beauty of nature.

Entrance fee to FRIM is RM5 and an additional RM5 will be charged if you bring along a camera.

One interesting fact - FRIM, Kepong was initially a mining site before being turned into a vegetable garden site and now it's a free forest destination area with a cozy and quiet atmosphere.

2) Kanching Eco Forest Park
The sound of the falls will sooth your souls

Kanching Eco Forest Park is a must-visit eco-tourism destination in Rawang.

This eco forest park has seven layers of 208-meter high waterfalls and challenging hiking trail with different level of difficulties.

Not only that, visitors can also spend time with family by having a picnic surrounded by nature. The entrance fee is only RM1 (with MyCard) on weekdays, RM2 (with MyCard) on weekends and RM5 for non-citizens.

3) Skytrex Sungai Chongkak, Hulu Langat

Not for the fainthearted
Known as the "Malaysia's First Flying Fox Park ", this SKYTREX has more flying fox elements that are longer than its other branches in Langkawi and Melaka.

At SKYTREX Sungai Congkak, not only do you get to enjoy challenging activities but you will also be doing it while enjoying the view of a lush forest and a river.

There are three packages available for visitors where each package has 25 different obstacles that takes an hour to complete. Entrance fees for Skytrex Sungai Congkak is between RM50 to RM130.

4) Broga Hill, Hulu Langat

Easy hike, gorgeous view
Broga Hill a favourite hiking spot for many, especially amateurs and those who are planning a hike with family or friends with different fitness levels, as it is a pretty easy hike but not a boring one.

It takes about an hour to reach the top of the hill, which is only 400-meters high above sea level.

What is interesting about Broga Hill is that the top of this hill is filled with green grass. With a combination of lalang and beautiful scenery, taking pictures at the top of Broga Hill is perfect for memories.

Also, there is a coconut stall at the top of the hill for climbers to enjoy the scenery while drinking coconut water.

A fee of RM1 will be charged for hiking. One interesting fact - if you climb Broga Hill 10 times, it is equivalent to climbing the Mount Kinabalu.

5) White water rafting, Hulu Selangor

It may look scary, but that's what makes it fun
Located in Kuala Kubu Bharu, white water rafting is a lot of fun for those who want to try out the rugged water activity.

White water rafting suitable for individuals, couples, families and people of all ages - from 8 to 88 years old. Payment rates are estimated between RM199 to RM800, with a minimum requirement of 2 persons.

Not white rafting, many other activities can be carried out along the eight-kilometre long Selangor River such as picnic, swimming and others.

Water tubing or tubing is also one of the water activities offered in Kuala Kubu Bharu besides white water rafting.

Tubing activity is fun especially with friends and family because it does not require a paddle but only following with the river currents.

If the current is strong, then the speed of the tube will be faster. Otherwise, participants need to tamper with the currents using their hands to move forward. The estimated price for tubing activities is RM30.

7) Taman Alam, Kuala Selangor

Taman Alam Kuala Selangor is a park surrounded by mangrove swamp with a four kilometre paved route for visitors to explore the natural environment.

Bird watchers would be delighted to visit the observation tower to view and take pictures of about 150 species of birds from around the world, including migrating birds from Siberia and Russia.

Visitors can also take pictures in the mangroves area as the trees are breathtaking. The fee to enter this Nature Park is RM4 for adults and RM1 for under 16 years old.

8) 4X4 Adventure Teratak Riverview, Hulu Selangor


Why not take a trip into the jungle by taking a fun and challenging 4x4 ride instead of a regular city tour?

The 4x4 car provided will travel through green forest roads and traditional villages, fruit plantations, across a river, swamps and even waterfalls.

In addition, participants can have a picnic and swim in the river while enjoying the beauty of nature.

Get a bird's eye view of Jugra or Batu Pahat when you paraglide at the height of about120-metres.

Depending on which location is convenient for you, you can book a paragliding experience that starts from Jugra Hill in Kuala Langat or Batu Pahat Hill in Hulu Selangor.

Both locations offer gorgeous views, but even without that, paragliding is an activity you should try at least once in your life if you're into adventure.

The best time to experience paragliding is from March to September and the cost is about at RM320 per person.
