Last year, a worldwide phenomenon was created after Niantic dropped one of the most successful mobile game apps of 2016 – Pokémon Go. The overnight success of the game caused instant pandemonium, and even led to deaths and people being mugged.
Fast forward to 2017, The Pokémon Company gave everyone more reasons to be attached to their smartphones after dropping a new mobile game called Pokémon Duel. The game was released just yesterday, so, if you’re a big fan of Pokémon with a burning desire to “be the very best that no one ever was”, be sure to get your hands on the game ASAP.
Many fans who were delighted by this low-key surprise cited that the game was the digital version of the Pokemon Trading Figure game. Those who aren’t familiar with this game will probably be surprised by the stark differences between Pokémon Go and Pokémon Duel.
Unlike Pokémon Go, Pokémon Duel doesn’t allow you to go out into the wild or ‘accidentally’ trespass people’s lawns to hunt down Pokémons. So your dreams to “catch ‘em all” in this game technically isn’t possible. Instead of catching these adorable yet powerful creatures, you’ll only be able to collect figurines of it. So, what can you do in this game? Well, you can kiss goodbye to gym battles at Pokémon Gyms and say hello to assembling your team of Avengers – we mean, Pokémons.

You’ll be able to put together a team of six powerful Pokémons to conquer your opponent’s territory (try to imagine it like a board game). You can play against friends or random opponents online. The best part about it is, you’ll be able to power up your Pokémons with an array of power-ups. You’ll also be able to determine your fate in the battle based on your choice of power-ups and tactics used. So, the power is literally in your hands.

Pokémon Duel is now available on both Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
