The watercraft’s purpose is to collect rubbish from our rivers as it navigates around our waters while cleaning it up.
And now, British band Coldplay has joined in the effort to help clean our rivers!
Turning a dirty river into a para, paradise
We’re proud to begin our partnership with @TheOceanCleanup: a new river Interceptor called Neon Moon 1, which will collect plastic before it reaches the sea. The Ocean Cleanup plans to deploy these in 1000 rivers globally to help reduce ocean plastic by 90%.

The five-man band recently announced their partnership with the organisation by sponsoring a new river Interceptor called Neon Moon 1, which will collect plastic before it reaches the sea.
The Ocean Cleanup plans to deploy these in 1,000 rivers globally to help reduce ocean plastic by 90 per cent.
And our Klang River will be one of them.
“Without action, there could be more plastic than fish in the oceans by 2050, which is why The Ocean Cleanup’s work is so vital."
"We’re proud to sponsor Interceptor 005 – aka Neon Moon 1 – which will catch thousands of tons of waste before it reaches the ocean,” the band said in a statement.
Interceptor 005 will be the second trash-collecting watercraft in Malaysia but we will be the first to receive the brand new model.
The watercraft is expected to catch up to 100 tonnes of trash, especially plastics, daily.
Neon Moon 1 is currently in production at a facility in Bukit Raja Klang and will be completed by mid-2021.
Kudos to Coldplay and The Ocean Cleanup for the amazing effort! As Malaysians, we need to also do our part in keeping our rivers and seas clean.
