Sports brand ASICS is no stranger when it comes to taking inspiration from our local culture.

Last year, we saw them unveiling a nasi lemak-inspired pair of sneakers:

And they're back at it again this year with their brand new Malaysian-inspired kicks.

Standing tall and proud

ASICS has just unveiled their latest special collab: the ASICS SportStyle GEL-LYTE III 'Kuala Lumpur Twin Towers'.

This special edition pair of sneakers is made in collaboration with SneakerLAH and apparel store Hundred%.

Just like its muse, the 'Kuala Lumpur Twin Towers' features a metallic silver upper to mimic the Petronas Twin Towers, with dark grey heel counter and a hint of green on the bottom of the heel.

The ASICS logo and the heel tab is made out of an iridescent material, so when the light hits it at a certain angle, it changes colour like a chameleon.

We absolutely like!

Over at the back, you'll find the word 'LAH' stitched into the heel counter.

To complete the look, ASICS gave the 'Kuala Lumpur Twin Towers' a translucent green outsole.

Perhaps our favourite detail about the 'Kuala Lumpur Twin Towers' is located on the tongue.

That's because ASICS managed to squeeze in a specs sheet of the KL Twin Towers on the tongue tab, which, in our opinion, is a really nice touch.

This is literally spending money on an education.

But here's the bad news though: the ASICS SportStyle GEL-LYTE III 'Kuala Lumpur Twin Towers' is extremely limited, as there are only 500 pairs available for purchase.

If that doesn't make it harder to get, it will only be available to purchase through a raffle on SneakerLAH's website on 3 and 4 December and on Hundred%'s website on 12 and 13 December.

So, if you want to get your hands on a pair, make sure to mark your calendars and pray to every god you know.

Good luck, sneakerheads.
