Badminton World Champion and Olympic Medalist Aaron Chia Holds Star-Studded Wedding Dinner
Nothing makes Malaysians come together more than the game of badminton and doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik gave the country a reason to celebrate ahead of National Day last month. They etched their names forever in Malaysia’s sports history books by clinching the country’s first ever World Badminton title.
They returned to a superstar’s reception in KL after capturing the title in Tokyo. After making the country proud, Aaron was able to turn his focus to his wedding and real-life partner off the courts saying to The Star, "During this period, I also plan to have my wedding reception after a long delay." He has two daughters, Albee Chong Rui and Alyssa Chia Shin, with his wife Maggie Goh Mui Kee.
Aaron Chia showed off his patriotism in a truly memorable way: by hosting his wedding dinner on 16 September, Malaysia Day. Both Aaron and Maggie looked stunning and glowing at the wedding dinner, which was held at the Majestic Hotel in KL.
In attendance were Malaysian shuttlers including his partner Soh Wooi Yik as well as Datuk Lee Chong Wei, Pearly Tan, and M. Thinaah. Other guests included Ng Tze Yong, Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin, Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai, and Rexy Mainaky. Divers Ooi Tze Liang, Ng Yan Yee, and diving coach Leong Mun Yee were also there to share in the couple’s joy.
The couple were dressed in specially tailored outfits by local designer BESPOKED by Ian Chang with Aaron donning a cream-coloured jacket with black pants that showed off his boyish charms while his wife wore a stunning elaborate number with feathers and sequins.
Well wishes and congratulations also poured in on his Instagram page from well-known Malaysian figures such as Tan Sri Tony Fernandes and from overseas including Thai badminton player Dechapol Puavaranukroh.
Aaron and Maggie had also previously shared a video of their wedding photoshoot:
