Well, apparently according to it, there’s more to do at the Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery (BNM MAG) than one might think. Best of all, admission is free (they already have a lot of money what!)
To get here, take the KTM to Bank Negara station or the LRT to Bandaraya station—but it will require a 10-minute walk.
The bank isn’t old fashioned like Gringott’s in Harry Potter, but a gorgeous gleaming building with six permanent galleries including the Children’s Gallery, the Bank Negara Malaysia Gallery, Economics Gallery, Islamic Finance Gallery, Numismatics Gallery and Art Gallery.
You don’t have to be a geek or an economics enthusiast to visit the museum as there is quite a lot to see here! Read on to find out.
RM1 million money tunnel
If you’ve fantasised about rolling in dough, this is the next best thing. Walk through this magnificent tunnel of ringgit notes.
Experience printing money
Sure who doesn’t love money, but have you ever thought of how it’s made? Experience printing money for yourself here. Before you get excited, this is not free money.
Check if your notes are genuine or not
This is for those who have money in their wallet. Last we checked; moths came out of ours. Better hope yours aren’t counterfeit!
Have a look inside the vault
Vaults are featured in many Hollywood movies, but how many of us have seen actual bank vaults in person? Or gold bars for that matter? Tap in the secret password to this vault for a sneak peek!
Snap those OOTD shots
Find a nice background here and take your shot. Even their spiral staircase is worth a picture.
Check out bank notes in every currency
Unless you’re a jet setter with millions in the bank, you probably won’t have seen even half of these currencies before.
Note: Book your slot at least 2 days before the date of visit. Walk-ins and group visits are not allowed.
