The Biggest Mall in Malaysia Now Has a Sports Center, Working to Produce World Champions in Badminton
IOI City Mall, currently Malaysia’s biggest mall, unveiled its brand new world-class sports center at the newly-opened 2nd phase of the mall.
The news of the unveiling came not long before the crowning of badminton champions, Aaron Chia-Wooi Yik.
Part of IOI City Mall’s latest line of attractions, the sports centre is the first-of-its-kind with 15 badminton courts and 2 mini futsal courts to choose from. You can invite a whole office to play a few rounds!
However, the most interesting news in this comes when Rashid Sidek, Malaysian badminton legend and a member of the Sidek badminton dynasty, joined arms with IOI City Mall to open their own badminton academy - the IOI Rashid Sidek Badminton Academy. Spearheading the academy will be Dato’ Rashid himself with his line of certified trainers.
“Malaysia has consistently produced world-class badminton players that have brought pride to our country, with many still waiting to be discovered. I’m extremely glad that IOI Properties Group built this world-class badminton facility as this will be the platform for developing new and existing talents. Aside from this, existing elite players can also use this centre as their training ground to excel further in the world of competitive badminton,” said Datuk Rashid.
Opening for the courts will be from Monday to Sunday between 10am to 11pm with rentals priced at RM25/hour (10am – 6pm) and RM35/hour (6pm – 11pm) for badminton; and RM100/hour (10am – 6pm) and RM130/hour (6pm – 11pm) for futsal.
Keen to join the Rashid Sidek academy and train like a world champion? Take the private, semi-private or group sessions from RM80 per session. A one-time registration fee of RM50 is applicable.
There’s also a 20% early bird discount for training sessions if you sign up between now to 30th September 2022!
